The Lithuanian Institute of History cordially invites you to the 14th Vilnius Symposium, "Leaders of the Soviet Republics between Politics and Personality: Biographies, Characters, Connections, and Decisions," on December 4–5.

The two-day conference will be attended by scholars from Lithuania, the United Kingdom, Georgia, Latvia, Italy, and the Netherlands. The event will be held in English at the Event Hall of the Lithuanian Institute of History (Tilto g. 17, Vilnius).

This traditional conference is the fourteenth event organized by the Late Soviet and Post-Soviet Researchers Network at the Lithuanian Institute of History.

The mission of the Vilnius symposium is to encourage the international and Lithuanian academic community to look at the past of the former Soviet empire from the perspective of the "small" countries, to interest researchers in the experiences of occupation, exploitation, and discrimination in the former Soviet periphery, as well as examples of liberation, and to reveal the importance of local perspectives in grandiose geopolitical events.
